This great resource is designed to be a starter, consolidation activity or plenary for a lesson looking at the difference between an democracy and autocracy. It is a versatile resource which works well in a citizenship, government & politics, ethics or a history lesson. It can also be used as homework and includes an extension exercise. This resource includes two heading cards labelled ‘Democracy’ and ‘Autocracy’ as well as twenty four statement cards which can be matched to either heading. The resource is provided in Word so you can easily adapt this resource for your students by adding or taking away statements. I have also included an answer sheet as well as an extension exercise which gets students to pair up the statements under the sub headings of definition, government, rights and freedoms, protest, constitution, source of power, education and diversity. This outstanding resource has been tried and tested over a number of years and has played a significant role in helping to improve not only results but also in educating our students by looking at the important issue of Native American and Hispanic Civil Rights. This booklet includes a wide range of revision notes, tasks, activities and assessment for learning that are suitable for the full ability spectrum at GCSE History. It is aimed at helping students studying Native American and Hispanic civil rights as part of the OCR GCSE Modern World History: USA Land of the Free 1945 - 1975. This booklet comes in two sections. The first resource is a study guide which includes revision notes and sources on Native American and Hispanic history from 1945 - 1980. ’ Accompanying each section are a range of interactive activities and tasks from pro and con organisers, Venn diagrams, thinking skills triangles to various mind map activities to help reinforce and check students knowledge and understanding. The second section, is made up of a series of past paper questions from OCR’s GCSE on this topic. Accompanying these questions are student guides on how to answer each type of question as well as a student mark scheme for self / peer assessment. If you do a different exam board, you can easily drop in your own mark schemes into the table format and adapt this resource. The full contents for each section are listen below: 1. These resources / unit of work looks at why the Nazi persecution of the Jews became more extreme from 1918 - 1945? The first few chapters look at the status and position of German Jews in 1918 and then moves on to look at the Nazi rise to power and the propaganda, economic, legal, physical attacks on the Jews from 1933 - 1938. Each chapter is designed with revision and summary sections. I have also included my smart notes with aims, objectives, differentiated outcomes, starters and summary diagrams to accompany the booklet which you can adapt as you go along. The next section then looks at the impact of the war on the next stage of the attack on the Jews by looking at the forced segregation and isolation through ghettoes, which was followed by the work of the Einsatgruppen Battalions as the German Army advanced into the USSR. My booklet then asks the question why did the Nazis then decide to move to a 'Final Solution' before moving onto the industrial methods and tactics used to murder the Jews through 'Destruction through work ' and 'special treatment.' The final section or conclusions then explores some of the historical controversy surrounding how far the German people should be blamed for the persecution of the Jews. If I have quoted from a primary or secondary source then full attribution has been given whenever possible. This fun and interactive lesson on how different communites reacted to the start of the Miners Strike, was commissioned by the History Academy for the 40th anniversary next year. It uses a market place activity to introduce students to the reactions of the LGBTQ+, ethnic minorities, Women Against Pit Closures, the Police and both working and striking miners to this important turning point in modern British history. We have literally thrown in the kitchen sink by including a dazzling aray of activities to suit the full range of learners. This lesson is suitable for KS4 and KS5 students. We will be producing a KS3 version in the coming days. This outstanding and Becta award-winning lesson has been refined and fine-tuned in the classroom over the course of 30 years. It is part of a series that was written and produced by the History Academy to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Miners’ Strike. The lesson aims to provide a fun and interactive learning experience, allowing students to understand what it was like to be a flying picket and why they targeted pits in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The overarching goal of this lesson is to examine the short-term impact of the Miners’ Strike of 1984-1985. By studying the experiences of flying pickets and their actions during the strike, students can gain insights into the dynamics of life in a pit village and the effects of the strike on the mining industry and the wider community. This literacy mat can be printed off back to back in A3 colour and laminated to use with your students in lesson to help them structure their work using the correct sentence starters and connectives. The literacy mat also includes guidance on spelling, punctuation, structuring paragraphs using PEE and PEEL as well as the correct then, their and they’re. This is a must have resource for any humanities teacher. The idea of a ‘mat’ is UK idea where you stick or place a resource like this one on the desks of your students to help them structure their work and avoid common mistakes. This resource was created in partnership with Lesley Anne who also has her own TES shop so please check it out as well. Please note, it might be an idea to run this resource through your own US spell checker to avoid any common errors. E.g. we spell words like colour and neighbours slightly differently to you guys across the pond. I have posted this resource at a low price as I believe that it is a must have - give it and go and enjoy. It will impress your principle. In terms of PEE, I always get me students to structure their paragraphs using either PEE or PEEL which stands for Point - Examples - Explain - Link.
